ENTITLED

The Marriage (Alderney) (Amendment) Law, 2005

THE STATES OF ALDERNEY, in pursuance of their Resolution of the 23^rd March, 2005, have approved the following provisions which, subject to the Sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, shall have force of law in the Island of Alderney.

Amendment of Marriage Law.

1. The Marriage Law is amended as set out in the Schedule to this Law.

Interpretation.

2. (1) In this Law, unless the context otherwise requires, "the Marriage Law" means the Loi ayant rapport aux Mariages Célébrés dans l'Île d'Auregny, as amended[a].

(2) The provisions of the Interpretation (Guernsey) Law, 1948[b] shall apply to the interpretation of this Law as they apply to the interpretation of a Guernsey enactment.

Citation.

3. This Law may be cited as the Marriage (Alderney) (Amendment) Law, 2005.

Section 1

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENT OF MARRIAGE LAW

Article 2.

1. In article 2(b), immediately after "maison paticulière" insert "ou tel autre édifice ou lieu sanctionné pour célébration de la mariage par le Registraire".

Article 8.

2. In article 8, immediately after "ouvertes au public" insert "et, en cas de la célébration de mariage dans un lieu sanctionné par le Registraire, le lieu se doit être ouvert au public".

Article 14.

3. In article 14 -

(a) at the end of the first sentence, immediately after "maison paticulière" insert ", soit dans un édifice ou autre lieu sanctionné par le Registraire";

(b) in paragraph (a) immediately after "moins d'un mois" insert "(ou telle autre periode que les États ordonnent)".

Article 18.

4. In article 18, after "l'édifice" insert "ou lieu".
