The Health Service (Benefit) (Guernsey) (Amendment) Law, 2010

THE STATES, in pursuance of their Resolution of the 1^st October, 2009[a], have approved the following provisions which, subject to the Sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, shall have force of law in the Islands of Guernsey, Herm and Jethou.

Amendment of Law of 1990.

1. The Health Service (Benefit) (Guernsey) Law, 1990[b] is amended in accordance with the following sections.

2. For section 1(3)(a) of the Law of 1990, substitute -

"(a) all sums payable in respect of -

(i) benefit under the provisions of this Law, and

(ii) such research and development activities (including pilot programmes), as the Authority may determine, for the purpose of establishing the need for, and most effective method of providing, any other benefit which may be specified under this Law,".

3. In section 20(1) of the Law of 1990 for the words "The Government Actuary of Great Britain or (if he is unwilling to act) actuaries nominated by him or (if he is unwilling to nominate) actuaries appointed by the States", substitute "An actuary appointed by the Authority".

Interpretation.

4. (1) In this Law, "the Law of 1990" means the Health Service (Benefit) (Guernsey) Law, 1990.

(2) Any reference in this Law to an enactment is a reference thereto as from time to time amended, re-enacted (with or without modification), extended or applied.

Citation.

5. This Law may be cited as the Health Service (Benefit) (Guernsey) (Amendment) Law, 2010.

Commencement.

6. This Law shall come into force on the date of its registration on the records of the Island of Guernsey.
