The Social Insurance (Guernsey) (Amendment) Law, 2000

THE STATES, in pursuance of their Resolution of the 30th September, 1999[a], have approved the following provisions which, subject to the Sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, shall have force of law in the Islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Jethou.

Amendment of Law of 1978.

1. (1) In section 26(5) of the Social Insurance (Guernsey) Law, 1978, as amended[b] ("the Law")-

(a) in paragraph (a) the words "by the States Labour and Welfare Committee or the States Education Council, acting on behalf of the Authority," are repealed;

(b) in paragraph (b) the words ", or by the States Labour and Welfare Committee or the States Education Council, acting on behalf of the Authority" are repealed.

(2) In section 88(2) of the Law, after the word "aggravation" insert "or an unforeseen amelioration".

(3) In section 111(1) of the Law-

(a) in paragraph (b) the words "or criminal" are repealed;

(b) after paragraph (c) insert the following paragraphs-

"(d) for the purposes of criminal proceedings or the investigation of crime; or

(e) with the consent of the person to whom it relates;".

(4) In section 111A of the Law[c]-

(a) in the heading the words "and Labour and Welfare Committee" are repealed;

(b) in subsection (1) the following words are repealed-

(i) "the States Labour and Welfare Committee or of";

(ii) "the said Committee or"; and

(iii) "as the case may be,";

(d) in subsection (2)(a) the words "the said Committee or", wherever appearing, are repealed.

(5) In the Sixth Schedule to the Law, in paragraph (b)(i) of the definition of "Accident"[d], for the words "a physiological illness or change" substitute "an illness or pathological change".

Citation.

2. This Law may be cited as the Social Insurance (Guernsey) (Amendment) Law, 2000.
