The Electoral Roll Ordinance, 2024
THE STATES, in pursuance of their Resolutions of the 20th March, 2024[a] and 23rd May, 2024[b], and in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Articles 25(3), 34(1) and 34(11)(a) of the Reform (Guernsey) Law, 1948 as amended[c], and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby order:-
Cessation of current Electoral Roll.
1. The Electoral Roll in existence at 11.59 p.m. on 30th November, 2024 shall, at that time, cease to be valid, and shall be replaced by a new Electoral Roll ("the new Electoral Roll") which shall be compiled by the Registrar-General in accordance with the provisions of the Reform (Guernsey) Law, 1948 ("the Reform Law").
Distribution of application forms for inclusion on the new Electoral Roll.
2. Pursuant to and in accordance with Article 34(1) of the Reform Law, on or before 2nd December, 2024 the Registrar-General shall cause to be distributed to each dwelling in the Island such number of forms of application for inclusion on the new Electoral Roll as the Registrar-General may consider necessary for the number of voters living therein.
Closure of new Electoral Roll.
3. In relation to the general election to be held on 18th June, 2025, the new Electoral Roll shall be closed on 30th April, 2025, and no entry to it shall be made or amended during the period beginning on that date and ending on the date of the election.
Citation.
4. This Ordinance may be cited as the Electoral Roll Ordinance, 2024.
Commencement.
5. This Ordinance shall come into force on the 1st November, 2024.
