The Reform (Amendment) (Guernsey) Law, 1972 (Amendment) Ordinance, 2004

 

THE STATES, in pursuance of their Resolution of 29th October 2003[a] and in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 15A of the Reform (Amendment) (Guernsey) Law, 1972[b], ("the 1972 Law"), as amended, hereby order:-

 

Amendment to section 3 of the 1972 Law - postal voting

1.      For section 3 of the 1972 Law, there is substituted -

 

"3.      This part of this Law applies to any person who has made an application in accordance with section 5".

 

Amendment to section 4 of the 1972 Law - register of absent voters

2.      In section 4(2) of the 1972 Law, for "ten sections", substitute "seven sections".

 

Amendment to section 7 of the 1972 Law - provision of documents

3.      (1)      In section 7 of the 1972 Law, for "send by post to the absent voter", substitute "provide the absent voter with".

 

(2)      Section 7 of the 1972 Law is redesignated as section 7(1).

 

(3)      Immediately after section 7(1), there is inserted -

 

"(2)      The Registrar General may provide the documents referred to in subsection (1) by -

 

(a)      sending them to the absent voter by post; or

 

(b)      giving them to the absent voter in person upon production of such form of identification as the Registrar General may from time to time require.".

 

Citation.

4.      This Ordinance may be cited as the Reform (Amendment) (Guernsey) Law, 1972 (Amendment) Ordinance, 2004.
