The Social Security (Reciprocal Agreement with Japan) Ordinance, 2001
THE STATES, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 113 of the Social Insurance (Guernsey) Law, 1978, as amended[a], hereby order:-
Reciprocal Agreement to have effect.
1. (1) The Agreement on Social Security between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Japan, signed at Tokyo on the 29th February, 2000[b], shall have full force and effect.
(2) The Social Insurance (Guernsey) Law, 1978, as amended, shall have effect subject to such modifications as may be required for the purpose of giving effect to the said Agreement.
Extent.
2. This Ordinance shall apply to the Islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Jethou.
Citation.
3. This Ordinance may be cited as the Social Security (Reciprocal Agreement with Japan) Ordinance, 2001.
Commencement.
4. This Ordinance shall come into force on the same day as the Social Security (Contributions) (Japan) Order 2000[c] comes into force in England.
