The Marriage (Special Licences) (Residence Qualification) (Sark) Ordinance, 2014

THE CHIEF PLEAS OF SARK, in pursuance of their Resolution of the 3rd October, 2012, and in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2 of the Marriage (Special Licences) (Sark) Law, 2013, hereby order:-

Period of residence for purpose of marriage by special licence.

1.      The period of residence substituted for the period of one month mentioned in Article 18(a) of the Law of 1919, in the circumstances set out in section 2 of the Marriage (Special Licences) (Sark) Law, 2013, shall be a period of 3 days.

Interpretation.

2.      (1)      In this Ordinance "the Law of 1919" means the Law entitled "Loi ayant rapport aux Mariages Célébrés dans l'Ile de Guernesey et dans les Iles d'Auregny et de Serk, 1919" registered on the 6th day of May, 1919[a].

(2)      The Interpretation (Guernsey) Law, 1948[b] applies to the interpretation of this Ordinance.

Citation.

3.      This Ordinance may be cited as the Marriage (Special Licences) (Residence Qualification) (Sark) Ordinance, 2014.
