The Reform (Election of Conseillers) (By-Election) (Sark) Ordinance, 2013
THE CHIEF PLEAS OF SARK, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 23, 25 and 29(6) of the Reform (Sark) Law, 2008[a], hereby order:-
Date fixed for by-election.
1. (1) An election for the Office of Conseiller –
(a) left vacant by the resignations of Conseillers C. Bateson, C. Maitland and J Hunt, or
(b) being vacant for any other reason, on or before Wednesday 6th November 2013,
shall be held on Wednesday 4th December, 2013.
(2) In the event of two or more candidates at the said election securing an equal number of votes and by reason thereof a further election being required to be held in pursuance of the provisions of section 25(5) of the Reform (Sark) Law, 2008, in respect of such candidates only without further nomination, such further election shall be held on Wednesday 18th December, 2013.
Date of closure of register.
2. The Register of Electors shall close, pursuant to section 29(6) of the Reform (Sark) Law, 2008, on Wednesday 6th November, 2013.
Interpretation.
3. (1) The Interpretation (Guernsey) Law, 1948[b] applies to the interpretation of this Ordinance.
(2) Any reference in this Ordinance to an enactment is a reference thereto as from time to time amended, re-enacted (with or without modification), extended or applied.
Citation.
4. This Ordinance may be cited as the Reform (Election of Conseillers) (By-Election) (Sark) Ordinance, 2013.
Commencement.
5. This Ordinance shall come into force on 2nd October, 2013.
