The Reform (Sark) (Amendment) Law, 2016 (Commencement and Consequential Provision) Ordinance, 2016

THE CHIEF PLEAS OF SARK, in pursuance of their Resolution of the 5^th October, 2016, and in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 38 of the Reform (Sark) (Amendment) Law, 2016[a], hereby order:-

Commencement of Law.

1. The Reform (Sark) (Amendment) Law, 2016 shall come into force as follows -

(a) as to sections 1, 2(d) and (e), 3 and 4, 5(b), 6 and 7, 9, 12 (in its application to section 22A(6) only), 14, 15(2), 18 to 20, 24 to 26, 28, 30(a), 31 to 34, 35 (except to the extent that it repeals the definition of "President" and inserts the definition of "Deputy Speaker"), and 36 to 38, on 6^th October, 2016, and

(b) as to the remaining provisions thereof, on 27^th February, 2017.

Consequential amendment.

2. In section 56(1) of the Reform (Sark) (Amendment) Law, 2016, for "President" substitute "Speaker".

Interpretation.

3. (1) The Interpretation (Guernsey) Law, 1948[b] applies to the interpretation of this Ordinance.

(2) Any reference in this Ordinance to an enactment is a reference thereto as from time to time amended, re-enacted (with or without modification), extended or applied.

Citation.

4. This Ordinance may be cited as the Reform (Sark) (Amendment) Law, 2016 (Commencement and Consequential Provision) Ordinance, 2016.

Commencement.

5. (1) Section 2 of this Ordinance shall come into force on 27^th February, 2017.

(2) The remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall come into force on 6^th October, 2016.
